Non-linear narrative with well-constructed plot twists
The visual presentation is the best in the studio's history.
Solid English dubbing and good localization in Brazilian Portuguese.
Characters with their own stories that support emotional involvement.
Robust choice system with good incentives for multiple parties.
Final chapters are repetitive and rushed, with a clear decrease in pace.
Excessive stealthiness in the final stretch compromises the variety of gameplay.
He does not convert who has never identified with the proposition of freedom.
Terror doesn't really scare. It works more like a horror atmosphere than a real fear.

Themes of paranoia and trust are established early, building in significance over time
Compelling character dynamics and interpersonal relationships support the tension
Suffocating atmosphere, underlined by excellent sound design and music
Not enough opportunity, or payout, in using interrogation skills during character interactions
Stealth sections are formulaic and over-abundant
Whilst not strictly bad, Turning Points collides with immersion on first playthrough

The destination marker roughly shows the way upon request.
Several levels of difficulty with relatively customizable details.
The rewind function generally allows to directly correct decisions leading to death or serious consequences (can be disabled)
Exciting setting, thrilling finale...
Wide decision-making system with many alternatives and 44 deaths
The stealth passages, the tools to be actively used, and the puzzles enhance the gameplay mechanics.
Exciting chase and action scenes (often based on QTEs)
Game figurines reproduced in a very realistic way overall.
High quality textures, animations and effects (lighting).
Highly proficient English speakers, mainly proficient German speakers.
Good sound effects and appropriate music
... but the story only gains momentum late in the game.
Some characters remain bland (for a long time).
The stealth passages lose tension due to a rather stupid AI.
Sometimes strange head movements and facial grimaces.
Some German speakers stand out

Turning Points system helps incentivize and motivate players to try out alternative paths
Pip Torrens makes a guest appearance if players seek out the right secrets
Survivor Mode gets rid of all the second chances and forces players to stick with their story until the end
Party Mode is always good for like-minded friends that can laugh at campy horror
Pacing slows to a glacial pace for the first half before turning into a desperate survival.
Ending comes abrupt and with little satisfactory resolution
The Dark Pictures' formula is starting to run its course after five games
Some QTE's are frustratingly unexpected and often the ones that lead to an untimely demise

Technically well-executed environments and convincing claustrophobic atmosphere.
Good sense of paranoia and tension at different moments in the story...
Waypoint system that greatly enhances replayability
A large quantity of endings and narrative variations
Try to bring a breath of fresh air to the saga...
Characterization of the characters is rather superficial and stereotypical.
...even if the repetitive and often frustrating stealth phases ruin the pace.
Staging not always excellent which does not always fully showcase the scenes.
... but the typical limitations of Supermassive Games' productions are still present.

Very strong cinematic staging - feels like an interactive science fiction horror film.
Dense atmosphere with clear influences from The Thing, Event Horizon, and Alien.
Exciting story with a constant escalation and many surprises.
A good character drawing: the crew (partially) becomes endearing
Flexible difficulty levels and two gameplay styles
The fleeting passages create suspense without annoying.
Good balance between story, exploration, and gameplay.
Replayability thanks to alternative decisions and possible character deaths.
Also playable in cooperative couch mode
For fans of pure gameplay, perhaps too passive
Some dialogues and philosophical statements are very cliché.
Monster design as beautiful as that of The Thing or Cronos: The New Dawn.
