Pros and cons for Anno 117 List of reviews and ratings
To better compare, we looked for you the advantages and disadvantages of Below and the notes given by specialized sites.

A great campaign, which is brilliant for the first time in the series
Controller functionality and UI are fantastic on console
Co-op, PvP and Endless sandbox extends replayability and longevity
It could do with a bit more voice acting in the campaign

The military aspect
The diagonal constructions
The importance of choices
The beauty of the sets
Sometimes repetitive quests

Many adjustment options for starting conditions and opponents in endless mode.
Useful sorting of relevant buildings based on the type of citizen
Several comfort features such as customizable radial menu and free text search on the desktop.
Approximately 13-hour campaign with a narrative arc for the character Alter Ego and the advisor Ben...
The countryside turns into an endless game
Pleasant learning curve, as the high complexity only reveals itself as the game progresses.
Thanks to the new environmental effects, an even greater optimization margin.
Exciting specialization opportunities thanks to specialists and the protective deity of each island.
The marshes and two citizen hierarchies clearly distinguish Celtic Albion from Mediterranean Latium.
Balanced layers of population are relevant for both businesses and the military.
The moral system adds a bit more depth to ground battles.
Interesting diplomacy by the Emperor as the greatest and most influential in the gaming style.
Busy cities with ridiculous comments from the population
Grid mode and diagonal construction
Beautifully designed architecture that is largely easily readable, with cosmetic options.
Many details to discover by zooming in.
Cosmetic day-night change
The orchestra highlights very well the atmosphere in the bright Latium or the rainy Albion...
Very good German adaptation
No free text search for inventory when creating trade routes.
Only one level of difficulty for the campaign.
... which however leaves some loose ends at the end of act 2.
The story takes place mainly in Albion.
When satisfaction shifts, one must work to deduce the causes of the statistics.
Enemy AI and automatic behavior of own mediocre ships/troops (which requires even more micromanagement)
Expansions to new islands are often hindered by an initial shortage of construction materials.
The test version still has some bugs and glitches (often minor).
System requirements not exactly low
... however, the pieces repeat quite quickly.
The dialogues in the countryside are sometimes a bit choppy.

An extremely polite formula in terms of mechanics, interface, and quality of life.
The difficulty curve, perfectly measured to be enjoyable at the same time
Its playable base is more of a deep evolution than a revolution, which could be a disadvantage for some players.

So many small and big innovations that, together, make a difference.
It is possible to build cities much larger than before.
Always and only islands, still no continent
Each army requires a large number of workers, too many?

Great staging: Rome and its provinces feel alive and full of details.

Creating and managing supply chains is deeply satisfying

Busy UI that could be far clearer
-
Weak campaign

Overall achievement of excellent quality and impressive for the genre.
Infinite mode with high replayability
Clear and well thought out tutorials

The deep and engaging trading system is at the heart of the game.
Tactically demanding and satisfying naval battles.
Two different regions in terms of playfulness and aesthetics (Latium & Albion).
The logical and organic development of the city's neighborhoods.
The almost infinite replay value of the endless mode.
The feeling of creating a true logistical masterpiece.
The ground combat system remains superficial compared to the rest of the game.
Diplomatic options are quite rudimentary.
The campaign serves more as a short tutorial than an epic story.
Character animations in wood and lip-syncing issues.

It never becomes overwhelming, it's ideal for getting familiar with the genre, while still being able to satisfy the most experienced players at the same time.
Attractive campaign of 15 to 20 hours ideal for getting familiar with the mechanics of the saga, and a free mode with almost infinite lifespan.
Very high production values, being also a very polished product and offering excellent performance.
The fight is not quite satisfactory, it's not bad at all but it could benefit from some adjustments.
The choice of character and campaign decisions have no impact on it.

Small improvements and additions allow for an enjoyable gaming experience.
From time to time a bug
The dubbing could have been better.

A highly improved city management and construction user interface.
Easy and accessible production line development system, ideal for beginners in the series.
The mechanisms that used to malfunction are now coming back improved and are transforming into essential tools of domination.
The architectural choices proposed since Roman times are a reference.
A central campaign that has the potential to stand out...
The gameplay and environment elements mentioned could be part of the game and be lost in oblivion.
Management mechanisms that do not work as well as we would like them to and as they should.
Lack of alert management for critical moments, the game only responding when the problem occurs.

Exceptional sound design
The conflict suite on offer is simple, yet deceptively demanding
The graphical scale of city building is as exciting as it is attractive
The civics management, engine-building loop is a satisfying puzzle
The campaign abruptly ends without much ado
UI doesn?t always work as intended
A few bugs and frame stutters
