We were surprised several times.
The system of thing works well.

Surfing feels simultaneously thrilling and relaxing
+
An evocative story that is self-contained but also bridges together other Giant Squid games
+
Visuals and music so rich it?s impossible not to get swept up in the moment
Some action-based sequences interrupt the game's overall flow
-
Controlling sea creatures can be a bit clunky

Emotional background music
The feeling of whizzing around on the sword is magnificent
The narrative text fragments do not contribute much
No "Pros & Cons" find at GameInformer

The sensations it conveys and the feeling of progress as we move forward.
An unforgettable journey...
We could have done something more with the ornaments we make with our sword/board.

Diverse and highly distinctive environments
Excellent sliding sensations
Music widely at the level
Gameplay and artistic direction sometimes collide head-on.

The instant transformation of the setting, very satisfying.
A very enjoyable surfing gameplay
The animal-back sections

The art direction is stunning, with deserts, snowy peaks, and floating islands all looking unique and memorable.
Austin Wintory?s soundtrack carries the game emotionally, perfectly matching the calm, meditative style of exploration.
Watching aquatic life return as you progress feels magical and adds so much life to the world.
The simple, accessible design makes it easy to relax and enjoy without ever feeling too punishing.
Unlocking new tricks doesn?t change much?progression feels cosmetic instead of adding real depth to gameplay.
With no combat and light puzzles, the core loop starts to feel repetitive after a few hours.
Frame drops and performance hiccups can break immersion, even when playing on solid hardware.
Once the thrill of surfing wears off, there isn?t enough variety to keep you coming back.

Incredible soundtrack
Responsive controls that allow for seamless exploration and fun platforming
Strong pacing and environmental design
Several loose ends remain with the narrative, which doesn't endear as much as Giant Squid's past games
The best parts of the platforming come together in the late game
Trick system feels mostly superfluous
Hefty performance drops in some areas

A successful atmosphere
Lights and textures are top-notch
Adequate lifespan
Gameplay not technical enough
It lacks big waves!
Atmospheric storytelling keeps things interesting without distracting from the vibe
Some uniquely fun, emotional moments
Emotional story
Smooth gameplay
Collectible items do not alter the gameplay.
Little variation in gameplay
