Respect the essence of the classic, with control improvements that make the experience easier for both veterans and new players.
Very detailed damage and wear system in Snake, with injuries and clothing deteriorating in real time.
The cinematic scenes remain brutal.
Some scenarios seem a bit empty, giving the impression that they could have been more developed in a remake of this scale.

A successful visual overhaul. The new view is more dynamic. The richness of the gameplay remains intact. Some practical improvements: crouching movement, easier aiming, wider field of vision, more ergonomic menus. Options to experience the 2004 version again.
Unchanged gameplay that has aged poorly. The slow animations, everything takes forever. The AI is outdated now. CQC still imprecise despite some improvements. Level design from another era. The black transition screens that should have been removed. The voice acting has also suffered. Kojima's cringe-worthy staging is still there.

A convincing graphic facelift
Overall technical stability on PC, despite occasional framerate drops.
A unique atmosphere and a blend of uchronia and realism.
The two camera modes (classic and modern) available.
The return of bonus content: Snake vs Monkey and the promise of Metal Gear Online.
An unprecedented surprise with the Guy Savage mode?
Very few innovations in terms of gameplay.
Cutting into zones always present, dated and rigid.
Absence of modern mechanics like sprinting.
Inventory and management of care/food still struggling.
Cinematics and dialogues taken exactly as they are, without re-recording.

Snake Eater was and remains a timeless masterpiece.
A smoother, more accessible experience with a high quality of life.
Without a doubt, the most comprehensive edition, with many additional contents.
Graphically excellent with some small surprises in the gameplay.
