Open-world setting works well
Master Chief's new abilities are great fun
Looks great with 120fps performance mode on Xbox Series X
Quality mode on Xbox Series S is just 30fps
Tight, satisfying gunplay
Stunningly well-designed stages
Loads of memorable moments
Limited maps, modes, and playlist options

Looks and sounds classic Halo through and through
Combat is so much fun
Open world is a nice touch and resists the urge to fill it full of rubbish
Equipment management is a bit fiddly mid fight

Wide-open world works for Halo
The Grapple Shot is a revelation
No co-op at launch
Most equipment is redundant
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
Open world structure works very well
Stellar soundtrack
Graphically solid across the board
Grunt voicework is hilarious!
Inexplicable framerate drops in bleeding-edge hardware
Co-op is a big missing feature
Multiplayer is the best the franchise has seen in a decade
The game's performance is tremendous
Equipment is now better incorporated in both single-player and multiplayer
Open-world activities feel inconsequential
Four-player co-op missing launch is a shame
Valor Points and audio logs, among other things, encourage players to explore the open world and take on side activities
Quite possibly the best combat ever in a Halo game
The Grappleshot is an excellent addition that completely changes and radically improves both the movement and the combat
Permanent equipment unlocks add even more nuance and strategy to combat
Solid progression mechanics
An engaging narrative that successfully strikes a balance between following up on Halo 5 and standing on its own legs as a spiritual series reboot
The trio of Master Chief, The Weapon, and The Pilot makes for a much more hard-hitting story that's much easier to get invested in
Insanely addictive multiplayer component that shows all the signs of getting even better as time goes on
Steady performance.
Open world lacks visual diversity
Some technical issues.

Love Master Chief and the Weapon's interactions
Huge variety of guns and other weapons
Varied ammo styles
Grappling Hook feature is amazing
Open-world design
Fun and chaotic multiplayer
Story is nothing special
Slow progress in multiplayer without Battle Pass
Faithfully recreated audio on LPs
Stunning original artwork
Incredibly fun open-world sandbox gameplay
The Grappleshot is a great addition to the arsenal
Plenty of side activities and collectables to find
No initial campaign co-op
Graphically unimpressive on the Series S with cutscene framerate issues
Open world is lacking compelling side story content

No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
Open world activities are fun and engaging, especially HVTs
The grappling hook is a simple but highly effective addition to your arsenal
Weapon is a great new character, featuring in the game's best story moments
Open-world activities aren't well integrated into the heart of the campaign
Lack of diversity in environments
Promethean and Flood enemies would have done well to mix up enemy encounters
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
No "Pros & Cons" find for this reviewer.
A well-developed world that's great to look at and traverse.
Good variety of missions and objectives that feel like a reasonable part of the world, not just padding.
Strong development of abilities through collectables, and arsenal growth through the valor system.
Outstanding audio design, with fantastic music.
Few minor bugs here and there, particularly with friendly AI.
The lack of promised (now delayed) co-op is a huge hit to the game.
The structure behind the multiplayer is terrible.

The Grapple Hook is just a blast both in and out of combat
Strong story and characters help keep you hooked, even when the pacing falls off
Side content is a nice distraction to the main story missions
Fantastic multiplayer with commitment to long-term support
Potential for more to be done with side content and Zeta Halo
Some minor performance issues
No co-op campaign at launch
Some map and game mode issues are present in the ?early access? multiplayer
Weapons feel great
Music is magical
Feels great to ride with Chief again
MP progression stinks
Feels incomplete

Fantastic gameplay.
Open World makes Halo feel fresh.
Multiplayer is a blast.
Starts to feel somewhat repetitive.
Multiplayer progression sucks.
The pay model.

Epic boss battles
Fun open-world
Killer soundtrack
Repetitive missions
Recycled world-design
Great weapons and fun AI make for a great combo
Runs great and looks great on Xbox Series X
Stellar lighting and material detail
Back to basics story focused on Master Chief saving the day
Open areas and side-missions break up the linear mission design
A lot of the open-world stuff feels like it would excel with others
Linear missions can feel padded or predictable in the corridor to combat room sense
Finer plot points a little hard to follow for those not up to date in Halo lore
Traversal, even with the very fun grapple, can be slow and clunky in some areas
Leans a little too heavily into past glories when it comes to action setpieces
