Pros and cons for Ace Combat 8 List of reviews and ratings
To better compare, we looked for you the advantages and disadvantages of Below and the notes given by specialized sites.

Clouds and replays among the most beautiful of the generation.
Longer and more Hollywood-like campaign
Various missions
First-person cinematics that are impressive
Squadron to lead and equipment and devices tree to complete
Incredible sound design
DualSense finally serves a purpose in flight
60 fps perfect on PS5 Pro
Radio sometimes unreadable in the heat of the action due to the lack of French dubbing
The ending is a bit predictable.
An online pass with a monetization that can be worrying.

Exciting combat and control
Good range of complexity for aces and simplicity for beginnners
Amazing visuals on the ground and in the sky
Wide variety of aircraft to equip your squadron with
Robust multiplayer options
Incredible soundtrack
PvP could be tough for newbies resource-wise

Innovative Cloudly system
More dynamic and tactical fights
Expanded multiplayer
Captivating narrative campaign...
Online longevity still needs to be evaluated.

Excellent game
Very strong audiovisual sharing
Multiplayer still to be explored

Impressive visuals and presentation
Unique storytelling vibes

Awesome visuals, effects, and characters
Expansive and super-fun online modes
Chatter can be confusing at times

Tight gameplay
Fantastic mission design
Fun multiplayer game modes
Gorgeous visuals
Excellent soundtrack.
Menus in the multiplayer mode feel sluggish.

High quality technical and visual domain.
The sensation of airplanes and more generally of flying.
Outstanding sound production and a powerful soundtrack.
Improvement of the overall approach to history.

Much more emphasis on its narrative aspect.
I am missing other vehicles in addition to fighter jets.

Campaign finishes strong with some interesting moments
A host of aircraft to pilot and outfit
Fun, interesting online modes
There are some terribly cheesy story moments

A real aerial ballet
A staging and spectacular confrontations, worthy of Hollywood blockbusters.
The idea of Rex's spirit inhabiting the protagonist is well explored, without falling into excessive supernatural elements.
The objectives diversify throughout the 30 missions.
Unreal Engine 5 enhances lighting and weather effects.
Keiki Kobayashi's soundtrack is excellent.
The multiplayer mode extends the online fun.
The game does not offer French dubbing (So, the dialogues are a bit difficult to follow during missions)
We would have appreciated a point on the series and lore, for newcomers.
It's a shame that the game doesn't offer real choices with impacts on the rest of the story.

Exhilarating dogfighting
+
Incredible soundtrack
+
Surprisingly good story
Takes a while to get going
-
Online could be much better

Various missions
An impressive achievement
Excellent sound atmosphere
A motivating progression
A promising multiplayer
No French dubbing
Uneven ground decorations

The best clouds in gaming
Combat is fun, varied, and razor-sharp
Missions feel suitably tough
Anticlimactic ending

Stunning Visuals
Thrilling Dogfights
Some Difficulty Spikes
Can Easily Lose Track of Objectives

Fantastic volumetric clouds and weather effects
Stronger tactical mission design and slick cinematic presentation
Substantial cross-platform multiplayer
Story occasionally flies head-first into melodrama
Some dialogue, music choices, and "novelty" missions are grating

Four levels of difficulty (practically adjustable at any time in both directions)
Well-made tutorial
An entertaining story, carefully staged...
Fun arcade combat system as usual
Varied mission design
Motivating progression system with nearly 30 planes and equipable upgrades.
Very effective orders for teammates.
The elegant effects and superb cloud simulation dominate.
Detailed airplane models
Overall smooth performance
Very good voice quality
Generally excellent effects
Diverse, epic and heroic soundtrack
...but which does not happen without a trash factor and which mocks credibility.
Some checkpoints are too far apart from each other.
Therefore, there is a certain amount of trial and error factor in mission design.
Some weak environmental textures
No German voice

The control is very accessible from the start, but offers a lot of depth with the advanced system.
The campaign offers a variety of very interesting missions.
The atmosphere and the soundtrack greatly enhance the most epic moments.
The feeling of progress is constant thanks to the new planes and their improvements.
You can access a good portion of the planes you are interested in right from the start.
The customization of the plane is practically non-existent for much of the adventure.
Some secondary actions during missions should offer more tangible rewards.

Simple and satisfying game
Good variety in the design of missions
Excellent visuals and soundtrack
Excellent setting and attention to detail.
Planes and improvements do little to change the gameplay.
The gameplay loop becomes repetitive in the second half.
Technical issues in the PC version
Multiplayer brings generic elements of live service.

Visually very beautiful
Enhanced feeling of flight
Promising multiplayer
The live multiplayer service is accompanied by microtransactions.

+ A staging and immersion that is quite incredible
The weather conditions, the clouds, the rain... a striking visual rendering
The story, not stingy in twists and turns, despite sometimes repetitive missions.
Online Mode, clearly built to last
A strong desire to pilot once inside, despite the difficulty.
The music...
Driving is not as simple as it seems
Allies with too unpredictable contributions
The subtitles and information during the fight are not crazy.
The priority targets are not always easy to understand.

Amazing visuals
Great voice acting and sound
Exciting missions

Various missions, with changing objectives along the way.
Clouds and spectacular weather conditions, useful in combat.
Soundtrack among the best in the series
The Joker squadron carries the story.
Some filling missions
Tedious target selection during crowded battles
Radio communications overlapping during the busiest moments.

A generous soloist who knows how to vary the goals
Absolutely insane sensations at times
Graphically impressive: these skies, my god, these skies!
A meticulously crafted sound design and OST
Wouldn't the allied AI be of any use then?
Still a lack of clarity in the current objectives or visibility of the action.
A balancing issue in the evolution of the character and acquired planes
Solo, there is nothing to sink your teeth into outside of the simple scripted campaign.

A fun, arcade flight model
Incredible replay value
Campaign provides a lot of interesting scenarios
Ton of Multiplayer Modes
Story outstayed its welcome for me
Flight Stick Support is lacking

The planes feel fantastic.
Many choices of weapons and upgrades

Varied and creative mission design
Likeable characters evoke empathy.
A good musical adaptation in English
Missions with high replay value and a challenging level of difficulty.
Exciting places
The second half of the story is convincing.
Great weather effects
Annoying chatter on the radio channel.
Obsolete Quick-Time events
Confusing upgrade system
The story only starts slowly and is not very comprehensible.
No introduction to the story for beginners in series - uninspired multiplayer with complicated menus.

The planes do feel different.
Varied missions with surprising twists
Great replayability thanks to the variety of aircraft and weapons.
Successful leveling system and teammates without unnecessary complexity.
