Well-considered core systems are engaging and challenging.
The voice acting by Alex Jordan across all the versions of Jan really helps make them feel unique.
No resource punishment for altering your base setup allows for experimentation.
Very clever writing that invests in longterm payoffs for the player.
Controls can be just a little awkward sometimes.
The save system, while understandable, can be a little frustrating.
Slightly obtuse in places, but nothing that cannot be overcome with curiosity.
Character faces can lose detail during dialogue sections.

... you are looking for a story-driven science fiction game.
... attract you with its psychological depth and identity questions.
... you appreciate light time pressure as a tension element.
... a slower-paced gameplay focused on dialogue rather than constant action.
... you are expecting clear victory conditions or action-oriented gameplay.
... too many dialogues or introspective topics can bore you.
... you have no interest in moral gray areas or internal conflicts.
... it bothers you when gameplay mechanics repeat themselves.

Innovative sci-fi narrative with complex characters and solid writing
Well optimized with stable frame rates on ultra settings, even on a mid-range AMD system.
Challenging gameplay with multiple scenarios that encourage replay.
Difficulty setting doesn't cover economy, so it could still be too difficult for new strategy players.

11 bit Studio's winning survival formula transplants well into a grander sci-fi setting
The rhythm of resource and relationship management is tense but enthralling
The gameplay stress is balanced with a heavy does of humour including some of the finest short films I've seen in a game
Choices matter
Base maintenance mechanic isn't adequately explained until it becomes a very large problem
Dialogue is riddled with spelling mistakes and tonal whiplash in light of what's actually happening
Third act fizzles out a bit in terms of the established desperate survival tone
Traversing the base on foot is not a good time

Easily usable with both a controller and a mouse and keyboard.
More than 20 hours of autonomy for a single use.
A very unusual science fiction scenario is developed in an exciting way in the dialogues.
Decisions with consequences
Motivating management of resources and age.
Affectionate details like short films produced for the Jans' movie nights.
A sober and impressive planetary setting
Fast loading time during fast travels
Alex Jordan delivered a superb performance in all of Jan's roles.
Atmospheric soundtrack
The lack of save and resume function results in a loss of progress when leaving in the middle of the gaming day.
The warehouse overview shows the total capacity, but not how much is made up of manufactured equipment.
The supply of resources and production can sometimes take too long.
Exploration often consists of searching for resources and collecting objects.
Inconsistent time management element (pieces appear immediately, for example)
Some dialogues without facial animations
Talking about age among themselves, the phrases soon repeat.
