Pros and cons for 007 First Light List of reviews and ratings
To better compare, we looked for you the advantages and disadvantages of Below and the notes given by specialized sites.

Satisfying stealth with a ton of dynamism
Seamless weaving between close-quarters combat and cover-based gunplay is masterfully designed
Intriguing story with great, memorable characters and worryingly contemporary plot points
Functional mirrors!
Quality and performance options on Xbox Series X are both a bit disappointing
[5/5] reviewed at 26/05/2026 - Test 007 First Light Handheld Performance [read the full review on TechPowerUp]

Substantial single player campaign
Cinematic storytelling with a brilliant cast
First Light is an epic Bond theme

Plenty of ways to tackle situations
Stealth, gunplay, and chase scenes are exhilarating,
TACSIM will keep you engaged long after the credits roll

Melee combat is deeply satisfying
Memorable characters
Diverse range of locations
Excellent take on the 007 mythos
Monotonous resource management

Subtitled in Brazilian Portuguese
Close combat is fun and fits the protagonist's personality.
The story blends espionage, action, conspiracy, and cinematic atmosphere very well.
The variety of gameplay can be enjoyable for different types of players.
The freedom of approach is good, but it doesn't seem as wide as in Hitman.

Incredible attention to detail
Feels great to play
Great mixture of open-ended gameplay and linear set-pieces

Respected and modernized work
Freedom of approach for each mission
Intense and impactful fights
Very good replayability
Absolutely perfect musical themes
Absence of French voices
Choice to make between Quality and Performance

The staging, worthy of a great 007 movie
The story, full of twists and turns and meta with the use of artificial intelligence.
The QTE phases, really dynamic.
The dialogues and the acting of the characters, more lifelike
Respect for the world of 007, from the character's writing, to the gadgets and all of its environment
The gameplay, which offers a great deal of freedom of action to the player nonetheless
The backstage of MI6
A really mean, stylish villain, even if he sometimes goes a little overboard.
A reimagining of the character and his rise to power, between spy, man of principle, and seducer.
The incredible opening credits of Lana del Rey and the presence of the Gun Barrel
We vote for Patrick Gibson for the next film.
Always this concern of being well positioned to trigger certain actions.
A game clearly better optimized for PC and premium console versions
We cannot drive the Aston Martin Valhalla in the game (not yet).

A great mix of stealth, combat, car chases, and more
Great visuals

Cinematic gameplay that blends stealth, action, and exploration
Plenty of globetrotting and gorgeous locales
Replayable TacSim challenges

Ability to finish levels in different ways, the ending is the same, but how you get there can be different
From investigation, hand-to-hand combat, car chases, gun battles, so many different levels to enjoy
Double EULA?s that are so long, I am confident not many people have read them

Perfectly conveys the feeling of the movies.
Strong dialogues and excellent presentation
The gadgets feel authentic and well integrated.
Launched with missing features such as path tracing.

Looks and sounds like a Bond game should
Great writing and a well-rounded cast
Crunchy melee combat makes scuffles exciting
Packed full of great little details

Flexible gameplay (infiltration/gadgets)
Successful graphics
Solid casting
Effective soundtrack
Good lifespan
Perfectible close combat

An exciting story about the origins of young Bond
Successful fleeting passages with multiple solution options
Various missions and locations
Powerful blend of stealth, action and exploration
High quality audiovisual staging
Bond's gadgets are cleverly integrated into the gameplay.
The counter-windows are too generous in some places.
Vehicle crossings are the weakest link in a playful way.
No dubbing in German and a few small errors in the German subtitles.

The soundtrack is superb
The design and construction of the young Bond
It doesn't bring anything new to the genre.
The driving sections left me wanting more.

Stellar melee/gunplay
Feels like a Bond film
Technical issues
Utterly brainless AI

Successful blend of infiltration and action
Spectacular achievement
Various missions
Well integrated gadgets into the gameplay
Some clichés in the script
Sometimes classic shootings
Unequal supporting characters

Great open-ended gameplay
Fantastic visuals and performance
The difficulty was often a bit trivial

Exciting and uncompromising scenario
Staging and rhythm very captivating
No aspect of gameplay is truly mastered
No original version, a shame for such a license

Truly ambitious globe-trotting adventure
Patrick Gibson is a wonderful 007
Glacier Engine is astounding
Excellent platform to build from
The gameplay philosophy is a tad confused and doesn't seem to know if it wants to be Uncharted or Hitman
A few bugs and crashes here and there to iron out

Engaging story
Wide variety of gameplay phases
Very rhythmic
Takes time to start

Decent story and characters
Sandbox missions are standout
Solid combat
Looks fantastic in places
Performance mode can look fuzzy
Gunfights can feel heavy-handed
Driving is a bit iffy

Simple control
Three levels of difficulty
Intervention simulations offer training opportunities with rewards.
The 8pm news story is faithful to its model.
Mix of espionage, discretion and action
Several ways to solve problems
The equipment improves with each mission.
Shootings and hand-to-hand fights involve the environment.
Resetting points
Very detailed environments
Well-animated characters in the cinematics
Beautiful light effects
Various settings
The sound effects resonate correctly when they are supposed to resonate.
Well-mixed surround effects
The original soundtrack plays the James Bond theme only occasionally, but always at the right moment.
NPC dialogues range from informative to entertaining.
Good performance from English speakers
The game starts quite slowly.
The ballet sequences are a bit heavy.
Just a straight section at the steering wheel
The NPCs sometimes seem very stiff.
No German dubbing, only subtitles.

The level design is great.
Research sequences with their multiple paths
Stealth systems are working perfectly.
This version of James Bond has a lot of charisma.
The Tac Sim mode, which increases the replayability of the game.
The most spectacular moments always follow the same format, and sometimes they can be a bit repetitive.
The villain is forgettable and does not stand out.
The artificial intelligence of enemies is necessarily limited in stealth sequences.

So many situations, always different, always stimulating.
Written like a beautiful James Bond movie
Some action sequences are masterful.
Some slight drops in pace during the briefing sessions.
We would have liked to have some more gadgets.

A true spy thriller in game form
+
Excellently balanced spy activities
+
Really gets Bond, not just a Hitman reskin
+
Open-ended mission sections are sublime
Blockbuster moments can feel too linear
-
Melee can be a bit stiff
-
Boss battles are dull

There?s loads of freedom to tackle missions how you see fit
Lana Del Rey has finally done a Bond theme
Enemy NPCs have frustratingly unpredictable reactions so sometimes you?ll win on dumb luck alone
There are a couple of questionable content creator cameos

Fun, varied and spectacular in its staging.
The closest experience to the movies. A tribute to James Bond.
Silence, the excuse system, and moments of greatest freedom.
Plot, pace, and level design are affected in certain passages.
The lack of dubbing in Spanish in a superproduction of this scale.

Playing with Q's gadgets is a lot of fun
Visceral melee combat system
Generally unimpressive graphics
Could use more checkpoint options

The action
The story and the interpretation of the characters
The enemies' AI is weak.
I should be folded.

Excellent James Bond movie
The tutorial is a masterpiece.
Diversified and fluid action
Sometimes a bit too didactic
We feel a bit of dilution at certain moments.

A real improvement in terms of cinematics and storytelling for IO Interactive.
Excellent infiltration gameplay...
The world of 007 perfectly suited
... But the action sequences are not as well mastered as the rest.
Useless platform sequences on rails

High-end production in 4K@60fps
Rhythm that never falters
Perfect mix between HITMAN and Uncharted
Epic soundtrack
Staging worthy of films
What a change of scenery
Good use of the DualSense for immersion
Respect completely the atmosphere of the films
Gadgets that add an extra layer to the gameplay
Bluff points principle for infiltration.
Unclear driving phases
Perfectible enemy AI. Uses a varied lexical field and a maximum of sources.

An incredible cast with excellent character models
Art design through the environments is superb
Smooth performance on Xbox Series X
Xbox Play Anywhere functionality
Only being able to take two gadgets on missions seems restrictive
Some may find the stealth portions a bit repetitive

This new James Bond is irresistible.
Solid gold achievement
The gadgets, each more fun than the others
The level design, permissive and well-crafted
The dialogues of NPCs are not all translated.
Surprisingly long loading times

The story and scenario set new standards for AAA games - funnier, warmer, and more coherent than anything IO Interactive has written so far.
Patrick Gibson brings depth to the character of James Bond through a genuine vulnerability, which had been missing from Bond's portrayals for years.
Lennie James as the reluctant mentor Greenway is one of the best supporting characters the medium has seen in recent years.
The arsenal of gadgets is carefully limited and gives each use of the Q watch, dart phone, or laser bracelet a tactical weight.
The extended Glacier engine offers clean technical performance - stable 60 FPS on PS5 Pro, scalable PC options thanks to DLSS, FSR and XeSS.
Randomly mixing sneaking, fighting, and deceiving in one section creates truly unique and unrepeatable gameplay moments.
The mechanics of firearms remain the weak link in the chain - functional, but lacking that tactile bite.
The main antagonists have too little screen time with Bond to create a truly threatening adversary dynamic.
Ray tracing is not available at launch and will only be added in the summer of 2026 - frustrating for PC enthusiasts equipped with the proper hardware.
The espionage work sections seem too linear compared to the opportunities in Hitman and guide the player too much.
In the middle of the second half, there is an extended passage in an almost empty office complex that clearly slows down the heart rate.
The second version of the Nintendo Switch is eagerly awaited and will not be released until the summer of 2026 - it's a real blow for Switch fans.

Respect of the base material
Quite a few challenges to continue the experience.
A roadmap to come
Charismatic characters
Vehicle passages
The body camera
Always stupid enemies

Several ways to solve and playful freedom
Translation in English: Successful transfer of Hitman's stealth DNA.
Dense and visually high-quality atmospheric staging
Interesting approach of an untrained young James Bond
Good balance between observation, planning, and improvised climbing.
In the best moments, a true spy sandbox with high immersion.
Solid and functional story with enough space for character development.
Sometimes arbitrary or artificial gameplay limits.
The action sections are less profound than the fleeting and systemic passages.
Occasionally, there is a stylistic inconsistency between the ambition and the execution.
Small technical inaccuracies and breaks in immersion
Structured moments are in opposition to the usual systemic freedom.
A compelling story about Bond's rise to the rank of agent 00.
Impressive graphics with many details and imposing effects.

Versatile game combining stealth, action, vehicles, and gadgets.
A successful English synchronization
Elements of Hitman such as disguises and multiple solution options integrate perfectly.

The hiking and climbing system remains quite simple.
No German synchronization
Great Stealth And Action Gameplay
Gorgeous Visuals
Stellar Voice Acting And Sound Design
Killer Soundtrack And Theme Song
Some Animation Bugs
