Many skills and items to discover make Mewgenics a strategic RPG in which to experiment.
The Switch version with mouse-style controls, touch and portable gaming mode is the best edition.
Often, one must submit to the strict karmic patterns of the NRG.
Price is a bit high, especially for those who want to take advantage of cross-progression on Switch.
Cat management subject to dynamics too close to roguelike games.

The random factor is fair - the races are never too easy, but never impossibly difficult either.
Turn-based combat system with environmental interaction (fire ignites grass, weather system, etc.)
Hundreds of items, mutations, and skills offer great replayability.
Comforting message that no creature is useless.

Random events can completely upset a race.
absurd artistic style
Optimized for Steam Deck from the start
Controlling with the Steam Deck is a bit difficult.
The vocal output is just gibberish.
Some bumps occur a little too frequently.
Unlocking certain class collars can take some time.
Missing QoL features, such as a cat comparison function or a quicker overview of all present pets.

Generational structure with its own identity that makes progression something unique and different.

Edmund McMillen's style, especially in its darkest aspect, can be unpleasant.
