?Quality over quantity? approach to areas and side activities.
Satisfying main plot with intelligent twists.
The writing behind characters and quests is fantastic across the board.
Weighty, fun combat no matter your weapon of choice.
Strong audiovisual presentation.
Good performance and overall technical polish on PC.
Missed chances to make the areas feel more ?alive? and less static.
More control over the party members would?ve been nice.
Grindy, discordant item/enemy tier system.
Few opportunities to avoid combat encounters.

Recording at any time is possible in practice.
Comfortable fast travel system
Decisions have consequences...
Diverse gaming world with thoughtful architecture
Much to discover
Well-written dialogues
Versatile and dynamic combat system with appropriate tactical depth.
Detailed and high-quality technical graphics
Successful graphic style with a superb design of world and enemies.
On Xbox Series, there are two graphical modes (quality and performance)
A great vision and short loading times
Some CGI cinematics
Very good English speakers
Effects often rich
Harmonious soundtrack
... even if rarely profound (and sometimes unconvincing)
High pressure for exploration and side quests
The progression of the character is generally very laborious.
Small performance weaknesses in quality mode
No German voice

Exceptional level design
Unique and carefully characterized setting
Writing at a very high level
Monotonous combat system

Animations, dubbing, underlying interfaces

Stunning world building
Well-integrated choice system in the story
System of experience too slow
Fashion in third person to forget

Replayability of the game
Outstanding OST that perfectly fits the game.
Gameplay suffers from its age
Rough and complex inventory

Intruiging story with deep dialog
Pillars of Eternity fans will be delighted
Beautiful visuals
Classless role-playing system
World lacks that feeling of being "alive" with empty cities and NPCs with zero reactions
Imbalanced difficulty
Huge world but mostly not worth exploring

Fun fight
The main characters are charismatic and interesting.
It is a good RPG for those who do not like RPGs.
Cliché story
Not much variety to create constructions
Fairly simple loot system
Enemies "damage sponge"

The feeling of handling the bow is exquisite
Luscious and diverse environment
Settles for generic fantasy over anything particularly exciting
Doesn't fully capitalize on its qualities

Very liberated character construction
Craftsmanship and scaling are intelligently intertwined.
Four companions in writing (almost) without frills
Artistic direction inspired (especially in Brisescarpe)
Enchanting soundtrack
Spot-on voice casting
A simple yet effective story
Integrated glossary
Limited interactivity with the environment and NPCs
Protagonists (too) friendly faced with moral dilemmas
Obvious technical flaws

Top-notch writing
Good moral choices
Many interesting parameters
An outdated technique
A world that is not very lively
Many repetitions of 3D models
[7/10] reviewed at 13/02/2025 - TEST | Avowed : Le cri de détresse d'une nature en déclin [read the full review on JVFrance]

The Living Lands do not exceed in size and are under the control of the player.
The first-person melee (and magic) gameplay works satisfactorily to a certain extent and certainly better than the vast majority of similar titles.
The design of the models has something of the first semester in a graphic design school.
Elements such as the party camp, numerous lines of dialogue, and many side quests give an impression of haste.
The battle would have been much better if it had been less chaotic.

Easy to handle
An introduction to RPGs
A little bit of FEDEX
Limited interactions

In terms of freedom of approach, regardless of the final impact, no mistake.
The diversity of weapons and skills allows for unique gameplay styles.
Graphically inconsistent and could be improved in terms of performance.
Very often boring missions
Choices often turn out to be less impactful than one would expect.

No activities like fishing or mini games
